The Disciples of the Horn were a cult I created for my first Dungeons and Dragons campaign. They were a series of villains who wanted to revive an ancient dead god and bring about the apocalypse. Their master was the horned god. They prayed to him and in return he made them stronger. However, their god’s gifts came with terrible mutations. The disciples of the horned god became increasingly powerful, bestial and corrupted. Because my players knew about the seven disciples, they were always exciting boss fights against the cultists of the Disciples of the Horn. Therefore, the joy when you could cross another name off the list was great.

This post is meant to provide inspiration for other roleplaying groups. It’s a piece of homebrew from me for you! The Disciples of the Horn can and should also be used in other systems and groups.

The Seven Disciples of the Horn: DnD Cult Listed

Gilmaril, 1st Disciple of the Horn

A two-meter tall satyr/goat-man/bestigor. Two long
twisted horns grow straight up from his head. He wears lots of golden jewelry, rings and chains and
a colorful robe with runes of a dead language. He flies into battle on a spectral claw and uses the ancient magic of shamans. Gilmaril was once killed by the adventurers and has risen again.

Vontrhah, 2nd Disciple of the Horn

A pale beholder. Horns seem to grow from all over his body. 4 of his 10
tentacle eyes are useless, as horns have grown from the eye sockets and
pierced through the eyes. A kind of second mouth has formed from horns around his central golden eye
. He appears ancient

Schandozan, 3rd Disciple of the Horn

A massive minotaur with no horns on his head. He believes the horned god took his horns
in his youth to punish him for his weak faith. His entire
body is covered with self-inflicted scars. He wears ceremonial robes, similar to Gilmaril’s.
However, his are plain and without any splendor. Long chains run from his arms and legs
to a large book chained to his back. The chains also prevent the
opening of the book. Schandozan is surrounded by fanatical cultists of the horned god, who
however mock him behind his back.

Shitz is a demon prince from the ninth layer of hell. He has red scales and his red body
radiates immense heat in his immediate vicinity. He wears armor of charred steel
and has bony wings growing from his back. Shitz has growths on his face
that some mistake for horns growing from his head. In reality, however, he has just
entered puberty, considers himself very important and the future ruler of
all hell. His voice hadn’t broken yet.

Herbert Hogan commands a flying ship with cannons that use the souls of the lost as ammunition.

A human-sized warforged robot. His form is held together by gears and copper cables
. In his chest rotates a massive, arcane crystal. In

face and several circuits behind it. Horns grow from his
head around the impact site. He wears a chain of dwarven skulls around his neck. No weapons are visible on him.
